Title: Constantine CONSERVATORES from Carthage
Post by: Victor on October 09, 2021, 12:03:29 PM
I just got a new Constantine coin

Constantine I
A.D. 307
26mm     6.9g
CONSTANTINVS NOB CAES; laureate head right
CONSERVATORES KART SVAE; Carthage standing facing, head left, holding fruits in both hands, within hexastyle temple
with plain pediment.
In ex. PKΔ      RIC VI Carthage 61

I initially got it thinking of it as an upgrade, but realized my other example actually has better details.

My new coin has nicer surfaces, but my old one is sharper struck, though it has some encrustations; which don't hide anything.

I am going to keep both because I think they nicely complement one another...plus you can't have too many Carthage coins!
