Title: Maxentius as Hercules...VOT X from Rome
Post by: Victor on November 23, 2019, 03:53:52 PM
Here is a rare type depicting Maxentius as Hercules that sold for $328.20. It's not surprising that Maxentius would have a bust type like this as Diocletian and Maximianus claimed lineage with the gods- in the East, Diocletian was in the family of Jupiter and in the West, Maximianus was in the family of Hercules; so Maxentius as the son of Maximianus is also in the family of Hercules.
