unofficial coin struck on one side-- uniface
« on: January 14, 2016, 10:23:33 AM »
This coin, which is probably copying a VLPP, was struck on only one side. The center of the reverse is also raised up, perhaps due to the way it was struck.

Very interesting piece Victor.
I cant help but see Dick Dastardly in the portrait, unusual even for an unofficial type.
I do like it though  ;)
Somewhere amongst my collection I have what I believe to be an official coin that is blank on the obverse, I will dig it out for you.

Here it is Victor,
Reverse - off centre VOT X MVLT XX
Obverse - off centre and blank
Mintmark - SMKB Cyzicus, the last letter looks like Gamma in the pics but is definitely B.
I narrowed the emperor down to Gratian but I could be wrong.

The emperor could be either Gratian, Valentinian II or Theodosius I
