Constantine II barbarous campgate
« on: November 09, 2015, 12:30:59 PM »
Dear all,

I recently managed to get another great barbarous campgate for my collection. It was sold as imitating Lugdunum.

CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C, laureate bust left
PROVIDENTIAE AVGG? , camp gate with two turrets, star above,
PIC in exergue. cf. RIC 231
17.10 mm, 2.29 g, 5 h

I am quite happy with this coin. I am however in two minds on whether I should try and brush more of the red sand off or leave it as is?

I think that if you brush it any, you will probably lose detail.

Thanks for the opinion, Victor. I think I will leave it as is for now.
