Constantine I VLPP from Siscia with star on helmet
« on: December 30, 2015, 12:05:56 PM »
Here is a nice example of a helmeted and cuirassed VLPP from Siscia with a star on the helmet. These turn up infrequently, as this bust type (D6) usually has a plain helmet. The H11 and H12 (busts with spear & spear and shield) type have stars on the helmet.

Constantine I
A.D. 318-19
18mm    2.7gm
IMP CONSTANTINVS PF AVG;cuirassed bust right wearing laureate helmet with star.
VICTORIAE LAETAE PRINC PERP; two Victories stg., facing one another, together holding shield inscribed VOT PR.
In ex. ESIS
RIC VII Siscia 53
