Constantine VIRTVS RECITVS
« on: July 31, 2013, 03:51:31 PM »
This coin is being sold in a private listing on eBay as a denarius of Constantine from a seller in Spain. I believe that it is not ancient, but of modern manufacture. The reasons are that it looks like it is made from a white metal (which is almost always a sure sign of a fake) and the style just isn't right for an unofficial issue from the 4th century. It had 14 bids and sold for $88.00.

It is too bad that someone paid so much for it, but if they never find out what it really is, maybe they will always be happy with it...ignorance is bliss!  :)
