Constantine II VLPP from London with unusual space in legend
« on: March 20, 2025, 10:11:10 AM »
The engraver left a bit of a gap in the obverse legend CONSTANT-INVS; even though he obviously could have used the room as C, the last letter of the legend, is below the bust.

Constantine II
A.D. 319- 320
FL CL CONSTAN-TINVS IVN N C; radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust left seen from the back.
VICTORIAE LAETAE PRINC PERP; two Victories stg., facing one another, together holding shield inscribed VOT PR on altar inscribed with✶ in wreath
In ex. PLN
RIC VII London 18; LMCC 9.01.036

ex- Dr Malcolm Lyne
