Constantine I improbably paired with FEL TEMP galley
« on: February 11, 2025, 01:18:04 PM »
Here is a pretty silly fake up for auction. I have seen lots of the fake reverse type; but don't recall seeing it impossibly paired with Constantine I. The auction house, of course, does not have a reference...that is what is called a clue.  ::)

Formally unlisted, therefore such strange fakes are also noted on "Not in RIC". As a warning for the collectors too.

This very specimen was allegedly sold on Aphrodite nearly year ago. It has also few companions on my page. See RIC VII, SISCIA [after 188]. Of course "after 188" is in fact completely meaningless in this situation. But I had to put these coins somewhere.
