I was the underbidder on this coin and I am still grumpy that I did not bid more.

The workshop not listed in RIC and RIC only lists Roma holding a globe; not Victory on globe. It’s not listed in Drost either.

Maxentius
A.D. 307- 308
IMP MAXENTIVS P F AVG; laureate head right.
CONSERV VRB SVAE; Roma seated in hexastyle temple holding globe with Victory & sceptre, shield by side; Dioscuri flanked by river gods in pediment; Victories with garlands as acroteria; H in left field.
In ex. RQ
cf. RIC VI Rome 204

The workshop not listed in RIC

The workshop is in fact listed because ROME 205 (cited after ANS collection) is actually ROMA 204.

I keep making this mistake because of an old description that I keep copying and pasting. I have updated, so it should never happen again.

I bid on this one as well and had hoped it went unnoticed… of course it didn’t and was kicking myself for not bidding more too! A fun coin!

I would have normally bid more, but I was bidding on two others from the same seller; which I won.

Yeah that seller must have been selling someone’s collection as he has a lot  of nice coins selling a few days straight. I ended up buying six coins including a Philip elephant sestertius, a Carus, a Gallienus tetradrachm, a Salonina, Claudius II… and this Licinius II which is really nice in hand.

Edit: I noticed after taking this pic that there was something going on with LII’s lips. It ended up being a little dirt that is gone now, leaving a normal looking set of lips.

Yes, he seemed to have some especially interesting coins for sale at the same time.

Interesting coin. Looks like an ancient imitation. Obverse legend starting with "MP". Very thin Herculius or Galerius, very thin Genius...

What is your opinion and where you will placed it. Have you any data of this coin?

Yes, it is unofficial

GENIO POP[VLI R]OMANI; Genius standing left, modius on head, naked except for chlamys over left shoulder, holding patera and cornucopiae.
Cf. RIC VI Lugdunum 14b

Unofficial Maximianus copying a coin from Lugdunum

The official version is referred to as “invasion coinage” minted for the British campaign led by Constantius I

Thanks, Victor. Possibly the skinniest Herculius I have ever seen.
