Constantine I ROMAE AETER AVGG from London
« on: April 26, 2024, 04:31:33 PM »
I just upgraded my example of this type

Constantine I
A.D. 312- 313
22mm   3.6g
CONSTANTINVS P F AVG; laureate & cuirassed bust right.
ROMAE AETER AVGG; Roma, helmeted, seated left, holding branch in right hand and globe in left; star in left field.
In ex. PLN
RIC VI London 269; LMCC 7.12.002

This coin commemorates the defeat of Maxentius and recovery of Rome and was issued along with several other types including the ROMAE RESTITVTAE type which has the same reverse

Nice coin. It will be very hard to find the better one for the next upgrade.

I don't believe that I will ever upgrade this example...but, you never know.
