This coin was issued to commemorate the Edict on Maximum Prices issued by Diocletian in A.D. 301 and was issued in the names of all the rulers. This attempt to regulate inflation was a failure though, in large part because the Roman government did not mint less money, but rather minted more- an irony nicely demonstrated with this new issue!
