Doors! Campgate fun
« on: December 08, 2017, 11:05:02 PM »
Hi all,
I've been on the hunt for a nice campgate with doors for awhile but either high cost or other coin purchases have gotten in the way. I finally found a nice one, at a nice price, at the right time!

Anyway, I thought I'd share it. It looks like it has seen a bit of corrosion but overall it's pretty sharp.

Anyone know anything interesting about it outside of the normal attribution information? Happy Friday everyone!

These doors are really interesting. In this thread http://www.lateromanbronzecoinforum.com/index.php/topic,1066.msg3001.html#msg3001 there are a few examples of door decorations.

Very cool, thank you for posting that diagram of door types and the link to other examples. I wonder why the mint at Arles was so interested in doors and... since they look so cool, why other mints never tried them out on campmates of this time?
