R.I.P. Guy Clark
« on: February 13, 2017, 09:07:16 PM »
I just heard that Guy Clark passed away this week. I bought some of my first ancient coins from Guy. In 1995, I had a subscription to the Celator and saw an ad for an assortment of 10 Late Roman bronze coins for $50. Those were my first LRB's and they really got me interested in the hobby. I could not believe that the coins were in such good shape for being so old and still only cost $5 each.

I had heard he was fighting an illness.   I don't know how old he was.  My generation is the next to pass.  Makes me wonder who owned my coins 100 plus years ago.  Were they in a collector's drawer or still in the ground?  I can only guess how many collectors will own one of my coins after I'm gone.  In case a future owner cares,  I've tried to keep good records on the flips of when and from whom I bought a coin.
