Constantine I Arles campgate with odd decorations

Hi all,

This is more a post for those who really like campgates. The main reason for purchasing this campgate was the fact that the decorations on the door actually extends above the door on each side. Additionally the sizes of the bricks either side of the door are much smaller than the bricks above the door, almost as if they were squashed in.

my first impression was that this coin was a little irregular. The ears don't look right, Constantine looks like Spock or maybe Legolas. The chin is shorter than usual. The coin design also seems a bit more compact with less room, especially the reverse. The campgate also looks a bit long and thin, when they are usually more squat, almost square shaped.

Initially I had the same feeling about the obv bust but I am still not sure. Do you think this might be an ancient imitation?

Yes, I think it is likely an unofficial issue.

It seems to be a very good imitation then. I did a quick search on acsearch and found nothing similar. Quite happy to have it in my collection.
