Gratian VIRTVS ROMANORVM from Aquileia
« on: October 07, 2016, 09:58:33 AM »
Here is a rare type for Gratian, usually seen from Antioch, rarely from Aquileia. The reverse looks like the common CONCORDIA AVGGG, so likely to be overlooked by many.

Gratian
A.D. 378- 383
19mm   2.3gm
D N GRATIA-NVS P F AVG; Pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right.
VIRTVS RO-MANORVM; Roma enthroned facing, head left, holding spear and globe.
In ex. SMAQS
RIC IX Aquileia 35a
